Before European settlers arrived on the coast, the culture of the local first nations had been long-established and celebrated. Art, sculpture, and carvings expressed their connection with the environment and the spirit that protected both it and them. To this day, this expression of culture and belief remains strong, and visionary First Nations artists, carvers, and sculptors continue to produce work that is second to none.
The coast continues to be a magnet for artistic and artizanal expression and we have an exceptional and broad range of galleries in Tofino and Ucluelet that showcase the work of local and non local talent. Inspired by the beauty of the region these artists and arizans continue to express their visions through paint, wood, photography, sculpture and metal and many examples of their work will be found in the galleries listed below.
We hope you enjoy and are inspired by the talent on display.
