Octopus Event Promotions was born when we were hanging out and chatting over a cup of tea one afternoon and discovered we were both frustrated by the fact it was hard to find out what was happening in town (at least in a timely manner), and that there was so much more that could happen.

We decided it would be fun to start a little company that would bring speakers and teachers here. After all, who wouldn’t want to come to Tofino and talk about what they do? Like all good ideas, though, it didn’t stay small; in fact, it seemed to take on a life of its own. Next thing we know, we’ve created a company with a funny name and we’re building an entire events listing and promotions website.

Now the purpose is much greater than just bringing good quality speakers to Tofino. We help locals showcase their talents and passions while providing a comprehensive listing that makes it easy for people to find events and activities and plan their free time.

After finishing a degree in marine biology at UVic, Jenn came to Tofino in 2003 to visit a friend for a week and went back to Victoria only long enough to pack. She has worked at Crystal Cove Beach Resort since 2005, the last 5 years as Assistant General Manager. When not working, she can usually be found drinking tea, patting a cat, and eating chocolate, preferably dark.

Alan stumbled out of Scotland in 1988 and found his way to Tofino in 2008, where he practices Shiatsu therapy and energetic healing, and sits at local coffee shops with his dog Bella, drinking coffee and chatting with anyone who stops long enough. He also has over 15 years experience in various aspects of hospitality management and promotion.
