Deanna Lankin Fine Art
There is a specific moment that I constantly seek. It happens most often when I’m alone…usually in nature. I’ve found it easily while surfing. It’s un-ignorable when I’m sitting under an old growth cedar or standing on an empty shoreline. It’s more subtle (but no less powerful) when I pause during my day to watch my daughter playing quietly. It’s always humbling and it’s hard for me to describe.
As an artist I’ll never stop striving to capture it.

Having grown up on the edge of Lake Huron, near London Ontario, I have always found solace in the water. After completing the Studio Practice and Art Specialist Program at Bealart Institute, i was naturally drawn to the West Coast of Canada. I have been living in Tofino, British Columbia, where i have been painting professionally since 2005. My style combines the antiquity of classical oil technique with a contemporary palette, focusing on the West Coast landscape and it’s people.
I have exhibited my work all over Vancouver Island, including two solo exhibitions. Most recently I exhibited my works at the prestigious Relais & Chateau’s The Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino. During the summer of 2016 I had the honour of personally selling a portrait of Sophie Gregoire Trudeau to her husband the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
My goal is to bring a fresh perspective on portraiture and landscapes and to capture the West Coast Lifestyle through a palette of muted colours, sweeping texture, and expansive, etheric use of negative space. I have recently committed to a new inquiry into life and i will be co hosting the On Sacred Ground Retreat/workshop here in Tofino in 2018. Come join us and really discover the magic that the Coast can bring to you,
